Coffee King Ltd is proud to announce that it has formally signed the Armed Forces Covenant — a national pledge that commits businesses and organisations to support serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and military families across the United Kingdom.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation to those who serve or have served in the British Armed Forces, and to their families. It recognises that the Armed Forces community may face unique challenges as a result of their service and ensures they are treated fairly, with respect, and without disadvantage in their day-to-day lives.
The Covenant invites businesses, communities, and individuals to take concrete steps to acknowledge and support the contribution of the Armed Forces community. Organisations that sign the Covenant formally commit to a set of pledges that are registered with the Ministry of Defence.
• It is open to businesses, charities, public bodies, and community organisations
• Signing is voluntary but carries formal obligations
• Signatories automatically qualify for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS) Bronze Award
• It supports serving personnel, reservists, veterans, military spouses, and cadet force volunteers
For Coffee King, signing the Covenant is not a symbolic gesture — it is a meaningful, practical commitment backed by a clear set of actions embedded into how we operate as a business.
“Signing the Armed Forces Covenant is an important moment for Coffee King,” said Sean Le Tissier, CEO, sharing the news with our network on LinkedIn. “The people who serve our country demonstrate commitment, resilience and integrity every single day, and we want to ensure they feel supported, valued and welcomed within our organisation. This pledge reflects our belief that businesses have a role to play in creating opportunities for veterans, reservists, families and all those connected to the Armed Forces.”
By signing the Covenant, Coffee King has pledged a wide range of actions that directly support the Armed Forces community:
Supporting Reservists
• Additional paid annual leave to allow reservists to meet their training commitments without financial disadvantage
Supporting Veterans
• Work placements, insight days and mentoring programmes specifically for veterans
• Guaranteed interview schemes for veterans who meet the minimum criteria for a role
• Active collaboration with the Career Transition Partnership and relevant charities to create opportunities for wounded, injured and sick veterans
Supporting Military Families
• Flexible working arrangements for military spouses and partners
• Participation in Forces Families Jobs, a dedicated employment platform for military families
• Short notice leave allowances to accommodate the unpredictable demands of deployment
Supporting Cadets and Adult Volunteers
• Additional leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers
• Insight opportunities for cadets exploring apprenticeships or further education
Building an Armed Forces-Friendly Workplace
• Establishing an internal Armed Forces Network to connect and support employees with Service connections
• Actively promoting and attending Armed Forces events
• Ensuring fair and equal access to Coffee King's services across the organisation
By formally registering its Covenant pledge, Coffee King automatically qualifies for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS) Bronze Award. This national recognition scheme, run by the Ministry of Defence, identifies and celebrates employers who actively support the Armed Forces community and encourage others to follow suit.
The Bronze Award is awarded to organisations that:
• Have signed the Armed Forces Covenant
• Demonstrate positive action in support of the Armed Forces community
• Encourage other businesses in their network to do the same

The Armed Forces Covenant is a national promise from the United Kingdom to members of the Armed Forces community — including serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and their families — that they will be treated fairly and without disadvantage because of their service.
Any business, charity, public body or community organisation in the UK can sign the Armed Forces Covenant. There is no minimum size requirement — from sole traders to large corporations, any organisation can make the pledge.
When a business formally registers its pledge, it commits to a set of defined actions in support of the Armed Forces community. The organisation also automatically qualifies for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award.
Yes. As part of its Covenant commitments, Coffee King operates a guaranteed interview scheme for veterans who meet the minimum requirements for any advertised role, alongside dedicated work placements, mentoring and insight days.
For military spouses and partners, Coffee King offers flexible working arrangements, participates in Forces Families Jobs, and provides allowances for short notice leave during deployment.
Coffee King looks forward to continuing its work in support of the Armed Forces community and playing its part in the broader network of organisations committed to honouring this national promise. Whether you are a veteran, a reservist, a military spouse, or simply someone who wants to support a business that backs the people who serve our country — we are glad you are here.
